Vision Statement

South Waterboro Bible Chapel has a bold vision and clear sense of direction. Our vision is to reach our neighborhoods, our town, and then beyond to the world with the Lord Jesus Christ. Our purpose within this vision is to:

  1. Evangelize the lost.
  2. Establish believers in a loving, worshiping community.
  3. Deploy them for ministries to their families, neighborhoods, Waterboro, and the world.

This vision will be accomplished by equipping all our lay people to live the daily abundant Christian life and to minister in all spheres of influence. These spheres of influence will include the marketplace, neighborhoods, schools, social organizations and any other area that is available to Christian witness.

Our clear sense of direction is focused on the Great Commission and referenced in Matthew 28:19-20. By discipling our lay people to be mature, reproducing disciples, every member within South Waterboro Bible Chapel can contribute a vital part in the fulfillment of this vision and direction.

Our “Philosophy is Ministry” is based on Ephesians 4:11, which states that every Christian is a minister and has a place of ministry. The verse states that “He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors/teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry to the building up of the body of Christ.”

At South Waterboro Bible Chapel, our staff serves by helping to equip the lay people for their particular ministry. Through the process of being a disciple, each lay person is encouraged to grow spiritually, to share his/her faith with others, and to be involved in a personal one-on-one fruit-bearing ministry.South Waterboro Bible Chapel has a bold vision and clear sense of direction. Statement of Purpose

The purpose of South Waterboro Bible Chapel is based on the Scriptural reference in Acts 2:41-43. The Scripture states four purposes for the New Testament church that are also the foundational purposes for our church. South Waterboro Bible Chapel will focus on these four purposes as the basis for all decisions and ministries:

  1. Evangelism: South Waterboro Bible Chapel exists to reach lost people for whom Christ died. Luke 19:10 tells us that the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost. Jesus provided salvation by His substitutionary death on the cross. When He ascended back into heaven, He gave the church the commission to take the Gospel into all the world.
  2. Edification: South Waterboro Bible Chapel exists to help believers become fully devoted followers of Christ. After the three thousand were saved and added to the church on the day of Pentecost, “they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine.” South Waterboro Bible Chapel nurtures new Christians. Edification includes nurturing, maturing, and reproducing. We cannot be satisfied until every believer has become a mature, reproducing disciple of the Lord Jesus.
  3. Fellowship: South Waterboro Bible Chapel exists to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs within the body of Christ and provide a biblical means of mutual accountability. Not only did the New Testament church see three thousand saved and continue daily in the apostles’ doctrine, they also continued steadfastly in the fellowship. Christian fellowship means meeting the basic needs of every individual. We are our brother’s keeper. We must be accountable to one another.
  4. Worship: South Waterboro Bible Chapel exists to worship and glorify God together as a body of believers. Borrowing Warren Weirsbe’s definition of worship: “Worship is the believer’s response of all that he is – mind, emotions, will, and body – to all that God is and says and does.” The ultimate purpose of our church is to glorify God and honor Him. May all that we do, say, or think as individual believers and as a local body of believers, bring glory to our Lord Jesus Christ.
